Rebuild a Trend Graph using a Free Format Template
To create a graph which mimics the "Trends" template chart, where positive numbers come as green and negative as red, please read this article.
This article will give guidance how to create a Trend Graph template.
- Create New Free Format Report
- Add the Bars And Lines Chart Object to your template. The list, cube calculations and formats will be created in the next steps and added to your template. Set the Control Properties
- Add the Item Selector Object to your template. Set the Control Properties.
- The report layout is done, now save your layout by clicking Save & Exit
The report has been created but is missing values for required parameter.
- Add the list you want to use for the Trend Graph report (e.g. Profit and Loss list).
The report has been created and is showing, but still without any values.
Next step is to create the different formats.
Go to Shared Objects > Formats and create the following formats:
Bars:
Lines:Use for example the following color codes:
Green
#5BB315
Orange
#FFB400
Red
#FF1E1E
Blue
#70B6E5
Brown
#8B5724
The formats have been created. The variance members in our list are based on cube calculations, therefore we will now first created the cube calculations.
The variance threshold in this example is set to -5%;0%. (Red < -5%, Green >0%)
- Create the following cube calculations:
i) CXO_TG_VAR_RED
ii) CXO_TG_VAR_GREEN
iii) CXO_TG_VAR_ORANGE
The cube calculations have been created, we will now create the list.
- Create the following list
The list has been created, we will now finish the report.
- Open the settings panel and apply the list to the Bars Series:
The report has been created.
From this starting point we can create a graph which is similar to the graph on the homepage, by adding some lists and changing some settings in the panels.
- Create another list:
- Open the Bars and Lines Chart settings panel and set the parameters as below:
The report has been created.
