CXO-Cockpit Report Types

CXO-Cockpit Templates are the underlying base for every CXO-Cockpit report.

This article elaborates on the different standard templates available within the CXO-Cockpit Template library. Using these templates you can easily create multiple reports to populate and create your very own version of CXO-Cockpit.

It is important to realize that each example report and dashboard described in this article can be built in only a couple minutes. By re-using the standard reporting templates in combination with re-using row and column lists (building blocks), you can create new reports in a couple mouse clicks.

IconTemplateDescription

Home PageThis can be used as a Home Page for all applications. It shows the main KPI's and a separate drill down section allowing the user to drill by alternate dimensions that are applicable for the KPI. On the right side, it shows the latest News items.

Financial StatementThis template is the most widely used and appreciated template in the CXO-Cockpit. It is mostly used for classic statements such as a Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet, with drill-down to the underlying detail. Upon selection of a line, the right top pane shows the trend for the last 6 months. Upon the selection of a column (month) in the trend, the pane below provides the detail for that Period with drill down to any dimension available.

Multi-ColumnIf you want to create a report with a flexible number of columns and rows, we recommend using the Multi-Column template. It is a great and flexible way of representing a report that will look exactly the way you want it to look.

WaterfallThe Waterfall graph is a very popular graph, used to analyze the difference between Actual and Budget (or any other Reference Category). By selecting a bar, the right top pane shows the trend for that specific member. Alternatively, you can drill down in the member hierarchy of the bars. You can filter the value tree through another dimension and the view automatically zooms to the relevant part of the movement.

Multiple Bar & Line ChartsThis is the ideal template to show trends for different Accounts (and / or members from other dimensions). You can mix line-charts and bar-charts and you can display up to 6 axis-frames into one report.

Multiple Scenario AnalysisWith this template you can combine several scenario-trends in one axis-frame. It is possible to show the Actual values through the current period and the Forecast values for the rest of the year.

ComponentsThis graph has proven to be particularly useful for the analysis of trends and the components these trends are made up of. This is typically used for Working Capital, where the Assets are positive and the Liabilities show up as negative elements of the Total Working Capital. The right top pane gives a more precise overview of the components in the last period. Each of those components in turn can be analyzed for the last 6-month trend.

RankingThis Ranking dashboard gives you a quick overview of the best and worse performers, based on a selected list of Accounts defined for your organization. The ranking can be done on absolute values (of Actual or another Reference Category) or on the better/worse Variance or Variance%. By showing both the top and bottom performers, users can instantly see the Entities/Products/Markets etc. that require specific attention.

Web ViewWith this template we can either connect to the internet (enter a URL) or display a page stored on the web-server.

Relative TrendThe ratio analysis is often used to detect odd movements in certain Revenues or Costs. By analyzing Cost types as a percentage of the Total Costs or Total Revenues, high volatility in the graph highlights any strange movement in the Costs. By switching to the absolute values, users can quickly analyze if the movement is a notable event. Drilling down to lower level Entities gives users even more flexibility to analyze the numbers.

TrendsThe Trends graph gives an easy to use overview of a selected list of Accounts. In the top right pane, the values of these Accounts can be analyzed across the dimensions. By clicking on a member of these dimensions, a drill-down may be available. Absolute value and differences between Actual and Budget (or another Reference Category) are visible.

Value TreeA Value Tree gives a break down of the results or ratio's. The benefit of this graph is that it gives an instant cause-and-effect overview with color coding combinations to indicate the better/worse variance. Although the content can be exactly the same as the content of a Profit & Loss or other reports, executives often prefer this presentation. The Value Tree is best used for high level ratio's such as ROCE and EVA.

BenchmarkThe Benchmark report is used to benchmark the results of the selected Entity with other Entities in the organization based on a selected list of Accounts. A company can define up to 4 benchmark groups. Different Benchmark reports can be set-up for different Accounts. Often, these reports are used to benchmark Profitability ratio's or Days Receivable. The Benchmark reports are authorized to view other companies' data (as an exception to the standard rule).

PortfolioThe Portfolio graph is a special graph that shows the dependency between 3 related variables. When carefully selected, this graph can give excellent insight into for example the relation between Price, Volume and Revenues or Receivables, Payables and Working Capital. Drill-downs and 6-month trends are available for all bubbles.

Compare TrendThis graph is a request from community members that want to analyze two related accounts in one graph. Typically this graph is used to analyze Receivables and Days Receivable, or Price and Volume. In the top right pane, the numbers are broken down into the underlying Entities. Clicking on these Entities, gives the user the ability to analyze the numbers broken down into their underlying Entities.

Data EntryThe Data Entry report gives the possibility to load external data. The loaded data can be combined with EPM data in multi-source reports. This report has a slightly different look and feel than the most CXO reports. It has an lay-out that is comparable with Excel.

Free Format TemplateIn addition to the set of standard templates there is also the capability to create your own Free Format templates. Free Format templates are created and formatted in the Design Studio by the Administrator.
