Functional Administrator

An Admin user can create, modify or delete any report, create and modify shared objects such as variables, formats, cube calculations, lists, menu groups, menu items etc. All of this can be done by accessing the CXO-Designer.

To access the CXO-Designer, after the admin user logs in to the CXO-Cockpit application, an administration button will be available next to the profile/user buttons in the upper right corner. By clicking on the "CXO-Designer" Button, the admin user will enter the CXO-Designer.

Types of Administrator

Within CXO-Cockpit there are two roles that can build reports, the full administrator and the report creator. Both user types make use of the CXO-Designer but will have different permissions.

Report Creator

The Report Creator role can be assigned to users who want to take advantage of building reports, but should not be setup as Full Administrators of CXO-Cockpit. This enforces a governed process of business reporting. These users can build reports using the CXO-Designer, but have restrictions when compared to the Full Administrator role. These restrictions include:

  1. No access to assign a report to a menu group
  2. No access to assign security on a report to a user group
  3. No access to create any shared objects like variables, formats, cube calculations, lists, etc.

The Report Creator role can be powerful for functional users that want to create new reports. Reports can be built using any delivered CXO template, or by creating a Free Format Report. The user can create their own custom objects (linked objects), including lists and formats which can only be referenced in the report that they are creating. Additionally, any shared objects that are created in CXO, can also be leveraged and used by the Report Creator.

Once a report is created, an Administrator will have to assign the report into a menu, and assign security access on the report as required. 

The Report Creator can also make a copy of any existing report, which will copy the lists that are being used in that report. These lists are copied over as a linked list, which can then be modified by the Report Creator to personalize the report.

Full Administrator

The Full Administrator role provides full access to all report creation and administration tasks. This includes the role of being able to create, modify and/or delete any CXO related objects such variables, formats, cube calculations and lists, menu groups, menu items etc. Additionally, the Admin user can also create, modify or delete any report.

Other tasks that are designated only with the Full Administrator include:

  1. Make a any report and/or object that is designed by a Report Creator and convert it into shared objects, which can then be referenced by all other Report Creator roles as well.
  2. Create user groups and users, including all tasks associated with user access and association.
  3. Have access to CXO Application Settings.
