Member Storage Identification

Some SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) models, like the one generated by Tagetik Analytics module, support so called Many-to-Many Relationship dimensions. These kind of dimensions can have identical member names with different values. In order to support this, there is a feature to identify a member by id.
When you create an application or source system you can select how members should be identified in the CXO-Repository:

There are 2 options:

  • Member name (default): members are identified and stored by their name
  • Member id: members are identified and stored by their technical id inside the cube

Please be aware that if you pick the member id option the member id's are not supposed to change. In case your member id's are based on a autonumber or random id and change after a rebuild than do not use this option.

This options can only be setup when you create an application or source system and can later on not be changed.
