Storyboard

Introduction

The Storyboard is an extremely powerful tool to share CXO-Cockpit information within the organization. The Storyboard is a string of report bookmarks put together to deliver a full story during a Board or Controller's meeting. The Storyboard guides the presenter through the presentation.

The Storyboard remains interactive at all times. Within the presentation the presenter can switch to another point of view and still remain in control of the presentation.

CXO-Cockpit has the ability to Export a complete Storyboard to PPT, PDF or Excel.

There are two types of Storyboards – Standard Storyboard and Scripted Storyboard. Below in this article you will find information on Standard Storyboards. Details on Scripted Storyboards are presented in the Scripted Storyboard article.

Play/Export Storyboard

Storyboards can be started from the Maintain Storyboard menu:

To play a particular Storyboard, select "Play" from the panel above the report images

It is also possible to Play, Edit (properties) or Delete a particular report from a Storyboard : These options are available in the panel below each specific report within the Storyboard.

Besides playing a Storyboard, you can use a number of additional options: e.g. Edit, Export, Email , etc. (see all available options on the screen above, in the panel above the report images).

POV Fixes

When playing a Storyboard a pop-up window will open with an option to fix the Point of View before using a Storyboard.  Fixing POV allows the user to set a default POV for any (combination of) dimension(s). Check the box next to the Dimension you would like to fix and select the required member from the Pick List or use the member search functionality.

Where used?

The POV Can be fixed when you:

Example Usage

  • Printout a management book for a single currency
  • Share a Storyboard for one single operational entity using the CXO-Viewer
  • Run a Storyboard for a new period

Navigation

You can navigate to reports by using the Storyboard's media player as shown below.

For instance, to deliver a full story during a Board or Controller's meeting, the Storyboard guides the presenter through the presentation with the media player.

Another option to navigate to reports inside the Storyboard is by selecting a report from the Report title drop-down.

Sharing and Ownership

A Storyboard can only be maintained by the user who created it. The creator can share his Storyboard with other users by sending a link through email. The recipient will only get a reference to the Storyboard, the creator remains the owner. In order to become the owner of a Storyboard that was sent, a user will need to Copy the Storyboard. After copying, the Storyboard is no longer a reference, but a new instance that can be changed by the recipient. If some reports are missing from the Storyboard that was sent to the user, this indicates that the user is not authorized to see those reports and will only see a restricted Storyboard.
