Manually Installing Essbase

When there is an issue installing windows update KB2999226, there are two options for a work around.

There will be an error when trying to load the CXO.Cockpit.OLAP.Plugin.Essbase.Wrapper.dll

There are two potential workarounds.

1) If the machine has not updated to the required servicing baseline, the UCRT MSU will be viewed as being “Not Applicable”.
Ensure KB2919355 is installed. Also, there were known issues with KB2919355  so before this the following hotfix should be installed.
KB2939087
KB2975061

2)            If the Windows Update service is installing other updates when the VCRedist installs, you can either see long delays or errors indicating the machine is busy.
a.            This one can be resolved by waiting and trying again later (which may be why installing via Windows Update UI at a later time succeeds).
3)            If the Windows Update service is in a non-ready state, you can see errors reflecting that.
a.            We recently investigated a failure with an error code indicating the WUSA service was shutting down.

Suggestion 2. A temporary workaround to run CXO-Cockpit with Visual C++ Redistributables 2013 instead of 2015

If the first suggestion did not work out, we can try a temporary workaround to run a special version of CXO-Cockpit compiled for Visual C++ Redistributables 2013.

To prove that the workaround works on your server we would like you to do the following steps:

1)     Make sure that Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 is installed on the server. It can be downloaded from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

2)     Copy the Source System Manager (ex. Design Studio) to another folder (let’s assume C:\Temp\Design Studio). Typically the Source System Manager is installed at C:\Program Files\CXO Solutions\CXO-Cockpit\Design Studio.

3)     Replace the file CXO.Cockpit.OLAP.Plugin.Essbase.Wrapper.dll in the temporary location (i.e. C:\Temp\Design Studio) with the one provided by development.

4)     Run the Source System Manager from the temp location (i.e. C:\Temp\Design Studio\CXO.Cockpit.Administration.exe)

5)     Login and press “Check” on the Essbase source system

6)     Replace file CXO.Cockpit.OLAP.Plugin.Essbase.Wrapper.dll in the website and agent service folders as well.
