This template is the basis for reports where you want to see and analyze the trend of a ratio for the consolidated level and its direct descendants.

In the example below you can see that direct cost as a % of the operating expenses is going up for all entities from December until February. By looking at the bar chart on the right you can come to the conclusion that this is because of the decrease in operating expenses.

What is viewed in this example?

  1. The line chart shows the trend of a ratio between two accounts for the descendants of the entity selected in the POV over the current and previous six months for two categories. One of these two accounts is fixed, in this example Total Revenue. The other account is variable and based on an account list with direct costs as the starting account. By changing the variable account (1A) you change the ratio. In the business settings you can change the account list, the starting account, the fixed account and the displayed categories. By setting the ratio button (1B) to one of the two lower settings you can see the trend of the ratio base values. It is also possible to turn off one or more of descendants of the in the POV selected entity by un-checking the box (1C) in front of that entity. And by clicking on a line in the chart you can drill down on entity or change the month. You can also change the compared categories by selecting them from a pick list (1D).
  2. The top right bar chart shows the ratio for the current and previous five months for two categories. By clicking on one of the bars you set the current time to that time period for the entire report. The displayed categories can be changed in the business settings.
  3. The middle bar chart on the right shows the fixed account for the current and previous five months for two categories. By clicking on one of the bars you set the current time to that time period for the entire report. The displayed categories can be changed in the business settings.
  4. The bar chart in the bottom right shows the variable account (1A) for the current and previous five months for two categories. By clicking on one of the bars you set the current time to that time period for the entire report. The displayed categories can be changed in the business settings.
