This template is the basis for reports where you want to see and analyse the trend of a ratio for the consolidated level and its direct descendants.

In the example below you can see that the direct cost as a % of the operating expenses is going up for all entities from March until April. By looking at the bar chart on the right you can come to the conclusion that this is because of the decrease in operating expenses.

What is viewed in this example?

  1. The line chart shows the trend of a ratio between two accounts Accounts for the Entity and descendants of the entity Entity selected in the POV over the current and previous six 11 months for two categories. One of these two accounts Accounts is fixed, in this example Total RevenueGross Margin. The other account Account is variable and based on an account Account list with direct costs Administrative as the starting accountAccount. By changing the variable account Account (1A) you change the ratio. It is also possible to turn off one or more of descendants of the in the POV selected entity by un-checking the box (1B) in front of that entity. And by clicking on a line in the chart you can drill down on entity Entity or change the month. You can also change the compared categories by selecting them from a pick list (1C).
  2. The top right bar chart shows the ratio for the current and previous five months for two categoriesCategories. By clicking on one of the bars you set the current time to that time period for the entire report.
  3. The middle bar chart on the right shows the fixed account for the current and previous five months for two categoriesCategories. By clicking on one of the bars you set the current time to that time period for the entire report.
  4. The bar chart in the bottom right shows the variable account (1A) for the current and previous five months for two categoriesCategories. By clicking on one of the bars you set the current time to that time period for the entire report.
